Who We Are
Hills Athletic Fencing Club was founded in 2016 with the goal of providing high-quality fencing training in Australia. For the past seven years, Hills Athletic Fencing Club (HAFC) has been the #1 ranked youth fencing club in NSW and has won "Club of the Year" and "Youth Club of the Year.". We are an affiliated fencing club of the NSW Fencing Association (NSWFA).
We are focusing on youth development, and specialising in teaching young children.
The coaches at Hills Athletic Fencing Club have many years of fencing coaching experience and work hard to create a safe, fun, and focused environment for students of all ages.
Our children and youth program, for students ages 7 to 12, is one of the most successful in Australia, many of our students have been ranked No.1 in their age categories. as we focus on developing fundamental skills in a disciplined and fun environment.
The goal of our fencing club that trains children is to provide a safe and supportive environment where young fencers can develop their skills, gain confidence, and learn important life skills. Specifically, a fencing club that trains children aims to:
Develop physical fitness and athletic abilities: Fencing provides an excellent workout that can help children improve their overall fitness and develop important athletic skills such as strength, speed, agility, coordination, and endurance.
Promote mental focus and discipline: Fencing requires a high level of mental focus, concentration, and strategy. By participating in fencing, children can learn how to think critically, make quick decisions, and develop a strong work ethic.
Foster social skills and sportsmanship: Fencing is a social sport that requires interaction with opponents, coaches, and other fencers. Children who participate in fencing learn how to communicate effectively, work as part of a team, and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Build self-confidence and self-esteem: Fencing can be a challenging and competitive sport, but children who participate can develop a sense of accomplishment and pride in their abilities, which can help boost their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Provide opportunities for competition and achievement: Fencing clubs often provide opportunities for children to compete in tournaments and achieve success in their sport, which can help them set goals and work towards achieving them.
